🇴🇲 Oman: Where Tradition Meets Hospitality

🛬 18 Oct 2023 – 25 oct 2023 Vietnam 🛫

If there’s one word I’d use to describe Oman, it’s genuine. Unlike many places in the Gulf that have gone ultra-modern, Oman still holds tightly to its traditions—not just in museums or festivals, but in everyday life. You feel it in the people, the clothes, the language, the values.

I visited Oman in the summer of 2023, and while the humidity was intense, the warmth of the people completely made up for it. It was also my first time staying in someone’s home instead of a hotel—and honestly, that changed everything. Hospitality wasn’t just a polite gesture—it was a way of life.

What truly surprised me was the love Omanis have for North Africans. Everywhere I went, people were calling out to me with big smiles: “Zinedine Zidane!” – “Riyad Mahrez!” 🇩🇿⚽️

🏙️ Muscat – Calm & Clean

I spent most of my time in Muscat, the capital city. It’s where the majority of the population works and lives. The vibe? Calm, clean, and traditional—no towering skyscrapers, just wide roads, beautiful mosques, and mountain backdrops.

💰 The Currency Surprise

One thing that caught me off guard was the currency exchange. The Omani Rial (OMR) is one of the strongest currencies in the world—
OMR 1 = around $2.60
So yes, even grabbing snacks felt premium.

🧭 Would I Return? Absolutely.

I would 100% return to Oman, but next time it’s going to be in winter. I want to explore the deserts, mountains, and maybe even do a road trip through the wadis. The people, the peace, and the culture left a deep impression on me.

Thank you, Sultanate of Oman 🇴🇲🇴🇲🇴🇲🇴🇲🇴🇲🇴🇲 — your kindness and culture are unforgettable.
